2014Q3.0 Release Notes

We are pleased to present our 2014Q3.0 release.

Release Highlights – Video Clips

Please note, this video is no longer available.

General Suggestions & Tips

For the best results, install the 2014Q3.0 release as soon as your application development cycle allows it. The 2014Q3.0 release makes improvements in both the throughput of the verification process and the quality of the results.

Please remember to update both the program files and the reference data. The improvements in the Loqate Engine are tied to the data in the Global Knowledge Repository and the combination works better. If you can’t update both in your application, please contact Loqate Support prior to upgrading so we can help you.

Loqate Partner Area Launch

In line with the 2014Q3.0 release, we are launching a new portal on loqate.com to accompany our Support Area. Our new Partner Area features a range of marketing materials, guides, and tools to help our partners learn and sell Loqate as part of their product or solution.

If you already have a Loqate account that you use to browse the Support Area, you’ll need additional approval to access the new materials. Please contact your channel manager or email marketing@loqate.com to request access.

Major API Features

Address Powersearch™

Loqate’s new Address Powersearch™ functionality has been expanded to cover most countries worldwide. It provides faster, more accurate address capture and verification to improve customer service and reduce the costs associated with inaccurate address data.

Address Powersearch will require a paid license in addition to the basic Address Verify™ license. Once purchased, this license will allow you to download the data updates for the specific countries you requested.

Here is an overview of how Address Powersearch works. When you run the Search method, the Loqate Engine will first look for the corresponding auto-complete index. If present, the method will attempt to return a list of candidate addresses instantly. If the index is not present, or if the index does not return any results, the older search process will be triggered.

  • Auto-complete indexes use only the first 10 characters to search within the US. The other supported countries
use up to 15 characters to search.
  • Address Powersearch will return the best information currently available. Some countries’ data packs might not have addresses more precise than the street or locality levels. In those countries, Address Powersearch will accept the street or city name as input, and return the complete name with any additional information available. We will include more detailed coverage in future releases.
  • Address Powersearch covers all countries in the world except for India, Japan, Botswana, Ethiopia, San Marino,
Saint Kitts and Nevis, Malaysia, Mongolia, and Kazakhstan.
  • Auto-complex index files can be downloaded via Install Manager. Users will need to have their licenses upgraded
to have the auto-complete index-related product codes in their license.

It is important to note that the results returned can only be as comprehensive as the underlying reference data available for a country. Please consult our Data Coverage documentation (https://support.loqate.com/datacoveragesummary/) in order to see the level of coverage in any countries of interest.

Improved Handling of Incorrectly Formatted Input Queries During Search

In the 2014Q2.0 release, we introduced improved parsing and spelling correction to our Verify method. This functionality has now been added to the Search method, providing better results where input is not recognizable as a standard address structure. For example, in the string ‘san francisco 300 berry usa’, the order of the address elements is incorrect. The additional capability here will now provide more accurate results.

The parsing recognition has also been improved to handle compressed data, common in database systems with limited field lengths (e.g. ‘SANFRANCISCO’ instead of ‘SAN FRANCISCO’).

Improved Alias Handling During Search

In this release, Search is better able to handle partial input with non-postal standard aliases. For instance, ‘1303 Nerine Circle’ or ‘2100 W Point Avenue’ in the US – the postal standards are Cir and Ave respectively, but now Search is able to provide better results in these situations with partial input.

The improved handling of incorrectly formatted input queries and improved alias handling during Search are controlled by the CombinedSearchMethods option. This option is set to YES (or ON or TRUE or 1) by default and will improve the quality of results.

Cloud API Updates

The Loqate Cloud will be updated to 2014Q3.0 along with the general release.

In the first half of Q3, we will be implementing a project aimed to simplify how production credit is added and managed on our cloud platform (everythinglocation.com). The main feature of this project will be translating dollar-based production balances into a new credit-based ‘bucket’ system. As a result, any future accounting performed on the platform will be charged in credits at a fixed rate.

If you have an everythinglocation.com account, you’ll soon receive further details about the changes and how they’ll impact both current and future credit plans.

Following this implementation, information on how to access certified processing (for CASS and AMAS) will be available on the cloud. Further information on how to access CASS and AMAS processing and integrate them within APIs will be available on our developer pages shortly.
