We are pleased to present our 2012Q3.0 release. The main features of this release are:

• New Register component available in Cloud and Local APIs
• Search component now uses new Register functionality

Update 1 Changes

• Fixed issue with install PATH being incorrectly written if a non-standard install location is used
• Changed install PATH from USER to SYSTEM
• Fixed issue with incorrect return of matchscore from Record::getMatchInfo
• Fixed issue with incorrect return of matchscore on multiple ambiguous results to Verify
• Fixed issue with incorrect return of matchscore on Search/Register results
• Added return of AVC field on each result using getField(“AVC”)
• Added UseCustomLexicons option to allow users to add their own lexicons
• Added CustomFields option to supply a comma-delimited list of user-defined fields
• Added CustomFieldConfidence option to supply the contextual confidence of user-delimited fields
• Improved Japanese transliteration
• Revised lexicon weights for various countries to improve parsing

General Suggestions and Tips

For the best results, install the 2012Q3.0 release as soon as your application development cycle allows. The 2012Q3.0 release makes improvements in both throughput of the verification process but also in the quality of the results.

Please remember to update both the program files and the reference data. The improvements in the Loqate Engine are tied to the data in the Global Knowledge Repository and the combination works better. If a reason exists in your application that both cannot be updated, please contact Loqate Support prior to upgrading so we can help you.

New and Improved Functionality

Register is a new component of the Loqate Engine that enables real-time address verification and geocoding. Where Verify is primarily batch-oriented and targeted at cleaning addresses in an application, Register enables you to ensure an address is correct from the point of entry. You can implement Register in several ways. The Support section of the Loqate website provides some examples and instructions:

API Updates

• Fixed some improper case handling issues including ordinal and apostrophe handling
• Fixed issue with return of multiple results when verifying an ambiguous record with MaxResults set to greater than 1
• Revised default thresholds for determination of ambiguous matches to make the behavior more cautious when selecting a single result from multiple possibilities
• Exposed MatchScoreAbsoluteThreshold and MatchScoreThresholdFactor options to allow tuning of ambiguous match behavior.
• Added Unmatched field, an atomic field which contains any words that could not be matched to a particular address component.

Country Updates

We are continually improving our country data and rules/lexicons to support them. The table below shows which countries have been enhanced, and how, in this release.

Summary of improvement changes:

• Reference Data = 249 countries
• Lexicons = 71 countries
• Context Rules = 21 countries
• Address Format = 13 countries
